Quinta do Ventozelo, Syrah Oaked Matured

Every grape variety has a history. Syrah is all about surprise – revealing an unexpected personality for a variety that is not indigenous to the Douro region. To ripen its structure and enhance its fruity exuberance, we left it to rest in wood barrels for a year. The result is this memorable Syrah Oak Matured.

A beautiful ruby colour with intense aromas of red berry confit that combine perfectly with spiced toasted wood aromas. Powerful but very rounded and silky in the mouth, with fine and mature tannins. Pairs perfectly with strong cheese, Iberian ham and game.

Qta Lagoalva de Cima – Alfrocheiro, Red Wines we love

Quinta Lagoalva de Cima – Alfrocheiro

Grown in small plots, the selected grapes are handpicked into boxes and arrive at the wine cellar in the morning. The musts are hydraulically pressed and the malolactic fermentation takes place in new or one year old French oak barrels, where it ages during 10/12 months.

Only produced in exceptional years, this wine has a garnet-red colour and an intense aroma, with notes of spices, ripe black fruit and tobacco in the nose. In the mouth it feels deep, and is long lasting with elegant tannins. It should be drunk at 16ºC/18ºC complementing oven baked dishes, game and ripened cheeses.
